The word “entrepreneur” is thrown around like confetti in 2018; Instagram bios, motivational YouTube videos, podcasts, hashtags etc. And with the rise of self-employment and small business owners, the possibility and scope to start your own entrepreneurial journey is greater than ever.

But what does being an entrepreneur actually mean? And what does it take to be a successful one?

According to Oberlo:

“Entrepreneurship is the act of creating a business or businesses while building and scaling it to generate a profit.”

On this basis, every shop, cafe, consultancy business, and e-shop owner is an entrepreneur, and that maybe so, but doesn’t the word instil more emotion and feeling than it being so common?

Oberlo continue to state:

“The more modern entrepreneurship definition is also about transforming the world by solving big problems. Like initiating social change, creating an innovative product or presenting a new life-changing solution.”

That’s more like it isn’t it!

Here are some traits that RedSeven believe go a long way toward entrepreneurial success…

Why?

We believe the key feature in being an entrepreneur is your reason for doing so. You have to have a  “why” that gives you goosebumps, pushes you through challenges and wakes you up in the morning with a spark.

Spritely wake up - RedSeven

The opposite won’t see you going that extra mile for clients, scheduling additional time to be creative with your branding, or investing money in areas that you love but might not pay off. Taking risks, putting your all in and feeling energised by the future of your start-up is what takes it from simply running, to succeeding.

Passion

Your “why” might be irrelevant to the core purpose, product or service of your start-up, but still encourage you every day to do your best. For instance, you may be selling office stationary, but your reason for doing so to be able to take your family on holiday 4 times a year; they aren’t related, but you’re still motivated.

If your business encompasses something you’re passionate about though, making it work, becoming profitable and making a difference in the field, all comes naturally.

Happy work - RedSeven

At RedSeven, we’re passionate about the importance of human interaction, something that’s become some what of a lost art within the sales industry with the development of telecommunications and online marketing. Not only do we perform all of our sales processes on a face to face basis, by physically meeting and qualifying every client-customer pairing, we ensure both parties are more than satisfied, and become long-term relationships. Sounds more enjoyable than being sat on a phone all day or broadcasting without guarantee of impact doesn’t it!

Become Something

We’re also passionate about giving people the tools and resources to develop themselves personally, as well as within their career. There are too many people who hate their jobs, dread Mondays and never fulfil their potential, for our liking.

Alongside our product training, we offer endless opportunities to develop one’s skills, attitudes and capabilities within the marketing field, whether that’s sales based, surrounding organisation and planning, or leading a team. On a business development level, we arrange workshops, events, meetings and curriculums focusing on leadership, recruitment, administration and networking.

The way we see it, why go to work today if you’re not going to come home more skilled, better equipped or more confident tonight?

Each to their own

Each entrepreneurial journey is different, incorporating different methods, goals, impact and definitions of success.
