What’s it like to work with RedSeven?

By September 25, 2017No Comments

Q & A with: Ria Styles

Ria Styles worked with RedSeven over the summer of 2017 as a Brand Ambassador; from our perspective she was a bright, full of life young lady, so we wanted to check in with her to see how she felt about her time with us.

So, Ria, could you tell us a little about your time at RedSeven?

“I worked with the RedSeven team throughout the summer of 2017 and although I have had experience within several industries, never within sales and marketing, so this was completely new for me. Everyone in the team was so welcoming and friendly, I immediately felt at home and supported.

I started as a Brand Ambassador representing three charities at different times: Alzheimers Research, Breast Cancer Now and Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

I got promoted to a Leader after four weeks so was invited to the New Leaders Meeting; an amazing, educational experience, and a unique chance to make professional connections. I was then given more responsibility, such as coaching new people and running my own team.

RedSeven Progression
As a student, RedSeven was the perfect place to work over summer; I gained lots of new skills, tried something outside of my comfort zone and made plenty of money whilst doing so.”

What was it you wanted from your summer role?

“I’m going into my third year of university, so my main aim was to make enough money to have a great summer but also put some savings away. I worked in a bar last summer and decided that this year I’d like to utilise my time to develop myself professionally and personally instead. RedSeven offered me this, with plenty of new skills to be learned as well as progression.”

What did you enjoy the most about your role with RedSeven Marketing?

“I made a conscious chose to embrace all the opportunities available to me and loved working with such an amazing team. I learned so much and really enjoyed the events we went to, such as the New Leaders Meeting, the Mantra Weekender festival and the Sales Masterclass. These were great opportunities to develop my skills, have fun and make contacts with lots of successful people – not always an option in other companies or industries.”

What would you say were the benefits, if any, from working with the team?

“There were definitely a lot of benefits, the main one probably being the amount of progression and development available, both professionally and personally. Working with RedSeven allowed me to break out of my comfort zone, gaining skills and experience that is hard to come by in other roles.

There are lots of financial benefits too; as it’s a commission based role, you can make as much money as you want, you just have to be driven enough to do so. On top of this, for your first month there are great incentives offered to help you whilst you are learning the ropes.”

What did you find was the most difficult aspect, if at all, about the opportunity?

“I think the most difficult aspect about the opportunity was stepping outside of my comfort zone with a commission based role in something I had technically no experience in. I was nervous to begin with and questioned if I could do it, let alone make money from it, so it was difficult to overcome these feelings. However, after my first week I was already feeling more confident in myself, the systems we used and the team of people around me. In the end, I had nothing to fear.”

What do you think you learnt, if anything, from your time with RedSeven Marketing?

“I learned a lot, some things more obvious to me than others. I learned how important it is to put yourself out there and try something new, how to coach and lead people, how to speak confidently to individuals and small groups of people, how to set appropriate goals for myself and others, how important it is to be self-motivated, and how to effectively run a team. I developed my communication skills too which has helped with my confidence and the way I conduct myself no end. It was a summer of learning and developing personally.”

What would be your Top Tips for other Brand Ambassadors?

“My top tips for other Brand Ambassadors would be to, first of all, not give up without giving it a proper chance! Sometimes people get the hang of things quite quickly, but for others it may take a bit longer. The role is an amazing opportunity, with loads of fantastic reasons to stay – you can make as much money as you like, there are great incentives, loads to learn and lots of skills to develop that look excellent on your CV, so keep at it!

Another tip would be to set goals for yourself, short-term and long-term. Establish why you’re here and what you want from the business, and keep reminding yourself of those reasons. Having goals kept me motivated each day, and being self-employed, they gave me the reason to get up and go to work. My goals were to go on two holidays, go to a festival, pass my driving theory test and save at least £300 for uni; I did all of these things. And I did it all in three months!”
